Power Flushing

What is Powerflushing?
Powerflushing is the cleansing of a central heating system with the aid of chemicals and a powerful self-contained flushing unit. By using the flushing machine the chemicals can be circulated at up to 40C and a high degree of cleanliness can be achieved by removing sludge and other debris.

When should you powerflush your central heating system?
When installing a new boiler. The Benchmark initiative was launched in October 1999. This scheme has established a new code of practice for the installation, and commissioning of domestic central heating systems in the UK. A new boiler should not be subjected to corrosion & sludge that maybe present in your existing pipework and radiators.

Why should you powerflush a system if you are not replacing your boiler?
Corrosion - black magnetite sludge can form a dense sediment within the system, clogging pumps and generally reducing the flow of water. This can cause problems with the components of your boiler & central heating system which can lead to breakdowns & reduced heat being produced by your radiators.
